Privacy and Data Protection

Privacy and personal data processing is a field with increasing importance, especially within the EU, because it is linked with MIS, businesses analysis and corporate marketing strategy in approaching customers, especially following the development of e-commerce. The regulatory framework in Greece is particularly detailed and strict, given that the Greek lawmaker has adopted a stricter than other national authorities approach in transposing the relevant EU Directives in Greece. In many cases the Greek law followed since 1997 and 2007 similar approach with that is now embodied in Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and Directive (EU) 2016/680.

We have devoted many efforts in this field early on, advising many corporate clients on the setting up of their data basis, the processing of the data at all stages, acquiring appropriate consent, transfer within EU or out of the EU, and security. As the use through electronic communications networks and predominantly the Internet and mobile networks developed and increased, we offered services in regard with the appropriate drafting of the privacy and cookies policies of our clients and the monitoring of the function thereof, in many occasions closely working as to this with the other EU law firms implementing the policy of multinational groups throughout the EU. WE have assisted clients in regard with employment issues and data protection and also in regard with security video surveillance, etc. We undertake the registration with the Greek national Authority for the Protection of Personal Data and the judicial representation wherever necessary.

Our advice is directed to companies that wish to promote their own goods and services through their site, to media companies that offer their content through mobile, satellite and digital platforms, to e-shops active in electronics and appliances or other goods and also to portals through which software can be licensed to resellers and the final customers, telecommunications operators or IP providers, but also to advertising and marketing companies that offer their services by utilizing the data bases of customers, or content providers.

We are often instructed by and cooperate with foreign law firms running worldwide or Europe-wide data protection projects for multinational entities, on matters relating to personal data protection in Greece and the EU.
